Fishing at Red Feather Lake House

Red feather is renowned as one of the premier fishing spots in Northern Colorado. There are multiple state-run lakes in the area as well as the private Red Feather Lakes.  

State Lakes

There are a number of local state lakes that can be fished. These just require a Colorado Fishing License. You can pick up licenses and fishing supplies at the local bait and tackle stores in the village.

West Lake

Creedmore Lakes

Bellaire Lake

Lost Lake

Private Red Feather Lakes

Most of the lakes in town are private and cannot be fished on by the public. These private lakes are well signed. Please do not fish on these lakes without a guest pass (see below). Red Feather Storage and Irrigation manage these lakes and are are very strict and police these lakes on an hourly basis (they will catch you). If you do not have the correct passes they will fine you, and us. Any fines we receive will be taken from your damage deposit. Swimming is prohibited in all of these lakes, for boating information please refer to our boating page.

As our guest, we do offer the option to purchase guest passes.  Please alert us ahead of time if you are interested as we keep these passes at our home in Fort Collins. They can be mailed or picked up from us directly.

Anyone who purchases guest passes MUST agree to follow any and all posted signs and fishing rules.  A copy will be provided for you. 

Guest fishing is available for purchase from May 29th-October 31st

Adult Day Passes are $35

Youth Passes are $15

Adult Weekend Passes (Friday 4pm-Sunday 9:30PM) $70

Shagwa Lake

Located directly in front of the home, Shagwa Lake is one of the private Red Feather Lakes.  Shagwa can only be fished on with a guest pass.  No swimming, no watercraft (including kayaks, paddle boards etc.).  This is one of the most prized lakes in town and recently underwent a major restoration.  As such, it is the most protected lake, please obey all signage, they will catch you and they will fine you and us.  Any fines we receive will be taken from your damage deposit.
